Über das Projekt

Bei einer Vernissage ließ ein Gast ein Glas Rotwein auf den Boden fallen, und da war ich mit meiner Kamera... das Bild vor mir brannte sich in mein Gehirn ein, und die Idee, etwas zufällig Geschehenes in einer konkreten Form festzuhalten, pflanzte sich in meinem Kopf ein.
Als ich also im Juni 2018 das offene Atelier von Skadi Engeln besuchte, fiel mir sofort ihr Atelierboden ins Auge und voila! der Samen, der bei der Vernissage gepflanzt wurde, erwachte zum Leben und nichts konnte mich als Sammler aufhalten...
Durch Gespräche mit anderen Künstlern, vor allem mit Danielle Benvenuto, wurde mir die andere Seite der Geschichte bewusst. Mir wurde klar, dass ich nicht nur meine eigene Kunstform "konkreter Zufall" entwickelt hatte, als bewusste Aufnahmen von zufällig geschaffenen Objekten, sondern dass hinter jedem Boden eine Geschichte steckt. Ich erkannte, dass die Böden der Kunst Momentaufnahmen in die innere Landschaft eines Künstlers im Laufe der Zeit sind. Sie sind eine Sammlung von Bewegungen, Farben, Spritzern, Inspirationsstücken aus jedem einzelnen Werk, die ungewollt das Werk des Künstlers als Ganzes dokumentieren. Böden sind Leinwände, die uns durch die Zeit führen und uns vielleicht einen seltenen Blick auf den Künstler in seiner chaotischsten und doch vollständigsten Form gewähren.


At a vernissage a guest dropped a glass of red wine on the floor and there I was with my camera...the image before me was burned into my brain and the idea to capture something happening randomly in a concrete form got planted in my mind.

So when visiting the open studio of Skadi Engeln in June 2018, her studio floor immediately caught my eye and voila! the seed that was planted at the vernissage came to life and nothing could stop me as a collector...

Through conversations with other artists, especially with Danielle Benvenuto, I became aware of the other side of the story. I realized that I had not only developed my own art form "concrete randomism", as conscious recordings of randomly created objects, but that there is a story behind every floor. I recognized that Floorways of art are snapshots into the internal landscape of an artist over time. They are a collection of movements, colors, splashes, pieces of inspiration from each individual work that unintentionally document the artist's work as a whole. Floorways are canvases that take through us through time giving us perhaps a rare glimpse of the artist in his or her most chaotic yet complete form.
